Master’s Message – April 2014

Posted by Brian Cayer on March 23, 2014

Although the temperature and still residual snow piles hanging around might not show it, but Spring is here. Just like the season it’s time to start anew. At Lafayette we are bringing in four new candidates. We have some planned fund raisers to keep our finances sound so we can carry on our work for many more years. Also, many members are engaged with new ideas how we can better our Lodge and the Craft. Please get involved as much as your Cable Tow will allow.
The March meeting with the Colonial Craftsmen of Massachusetts was well attended with nearly 40% of our membership in attendance. Everyone seemed to enjoy the Master Mason degree performed in period from 1775. Although I did not get to see the Women’s program, I heard it was very informative. Thank you to Bob Maddix and Peter Kindeforski for the great Corned Beef meal.

Our April meeting will be Kenneth Poyton’s District Deputy visitation. Please come out to show your support for Lafayette and welcome all visiting Brethren. The program of the evening will be a presentation from Tom Brillat, Director of Interpretation from Mystic Seaport, about “Captain Nelson”. I have known Tom for many years and he also is a story teller so I am sure it will be a good program. The dinner will be chicken parmesan and pasta. With the program and District Deputy visit I am expecting a good turn-out for dinner, so please send in your reservations. We won’t continue with our hospitable tradition if we run out of food.

Saturday, May 10th will be our Annual Spring Breakfast. Spread the word and let me know if you will be there to help. Tickets will be $7 for adults and $3 for children under 12. Last month I handed out order forms for Lodge apparel, I would like collect orders in April so we can get the apparel before the Spring Breakfast. Forms can be found on our blog page:
