Master’s Message – December 2010

Posted by Brian Cayer on November 25, 2010

Greetings Brethren,

As most of you know our Senior Steward Bro. Paul Michel was killed in a tragic accident on October 30. He was an energetic and enthusiastic member of Lafayette and always ready to lend a hand in whatever duties needed to be accomplished. This Masonic year will bededicated to his memory; his passing leaves a void in my heart, as well as those he touched in his all too short life. He will be greatly missed.

The Breakfast to benefit Franklin Farm on Oct. 23 was a great success. I hope that this will continue as an annual event. The members did an excellent job in running the kitchen and the volunteers from the farm helped greatly in working the dining room and clean-up. Thank you to all who helped in this very successful event. We raised $1,100 for the farm. I know that this money will be put to good use in the coming year. We also identified 14 children in the CHIPs program. The Pawtucket Rainbow Girls were there to help and it was nice to have them involved. I hope we can do more with them this year. Again thanks to all who helped.

Our Meeting this month will begin with the Clef Singers ofCumberland High School. This has become an annual event and I look forward to hearing them perform. They will be performing at 6pm during a social hour with cider and appetizers, followed by a roast beef dinner (reservations a must!)
Lodge will open at 7:30, we will have a short business meeting followed by our traditional toast to our departed Brother, then retire downstairs for Holiday collation and fellowship. Please come out and join in this Holiday concert and spend time with your Brethren and their families.

On December 18th we will hold our St. John’s Night. Dinner will be lobster roll and chowder with a chicken option for those who do not eat seafood. RW Gregoire will give a short presentation on St. John and we will retire downstairs for entertainment and fellowship.

Remember we gather the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Mondays for rehearsal. I hope to see you there, either to help or just for fellowship.

I send my sincerest Holiday wishes to you and yours my Brothers. May the Grand Architect’s blessing come to you all during this joyous Season!

Fraternally,
Bob Drisko, Master

Loss of our Senior Steward

Posted by Brian Cayer on November 2, 2010

The Brethern of Lafayette Lodge #47 are extremely saddened at the loss of our Brother Paul Michel who has laid down the working tools of the Craft. Paul tragically passed in an accident testing out a new motorcycle, following one of his passions. May he find his place in the Heavenly Lodge of our Grand Architect.
